Hi all,
I'm starting a discussion thread where you can all post Paleo shopping deals. I'll list some things I've come across recently:
Nuts/Nut butters/Nut Flour
- Sam's has bags of raw almonds
- Target has a jar of almond butter (Simply Balanced is the name, I believe). It's $6.99 and the only ingredient is almonds.
- When in Publix on Miracle Mile, I compared the price per lb. of their bulk raw almonds (in the bins) to those of the "Back to Nature" brand bagged raw almonds. The bags were cheaper than the bulk.
- Wal-Mart has the least expensive almond meal (Bob's brand). It's in their gluten-free section. (I don't go to Wal-Mart often, but need to get tired this week, so while I'm waiting I'll peruse the aisles and report back if there is anything else worth braving the store for)
Coconut Oil
- My mom mentioned that Sam's carries coconut oil now, so I will check that out next time.
Fish/Meat
- Sams's has frozen wild sockeye salmon. It's frozen in serving portions
- On Tuesdays, Fresh Market has ground chuck and chicken breasts on sale (I think it's around $2.99/lb.). They also have specials in the meat department each week. I just got 1/2 price ribs last weekend.
- Sam's has the best price on ribs, too.
- Rhonda's has great fresh fish. It's not a "deal," but you will get local, fresh fish. Pompano, tuna, wild salmon (from Scotland), etc. She's out on 60, almost to I-95 and she's also at the Farmer's Market beachside on Saturdays. She's also got some produce.
Misc.
- Tall Pines honey (after the challenge) is great. It's local, and the owners go to CFVB. Find them at the Saturday Farmer's Market.
- Coffee: Rio Coco! Best beans in town. Also CFVB member-owned.
I will keep posting as I think of or find things. Please add yours, too. Especially if you know of local sources.
